Certification Process

Ford PAS staff in the national office and hubs collaborate to identify and invite people to consider entering the process of becoming a certified Ford PAS PDP when they are seen as possessing the following dispositions:

  • Commitment to the teaching and learning principles and approaches of Ford PAS NGL
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse people and audiences, and help people work collaboratively toward common goals
  • Belief in the value of connecting schools and communities, and creating real-world experiences for students
  • Familiarity with current issues and demands on teachers in both academic and career and technical education
  • Grasp of the importance of business, higher education, and community partnerships to the success of the Ford PAS NGL framework

The following are pre-requisite experiences for selection:

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: education (especially secondary schools), business, and community, especially with connecting the three to support student learning
  • Participation in a Ford PAS national or regional professional development workshop or other equivalent event
  • Familiarity with the Ford PAS curriculum (content and skills), teaching and learning pillars, and various implementation options

People who agree to participate in the Ford PAS PDP development process commit to an 18 month-long process, which includes participation in multiple workshops with a cohort group, and other experiences. The Ford PAS National office plans to continue to provide the workshops in-kind, Hubs/PDPs are responsible for travel costs associated with all workshops.
