Ford NGL (Next Generation Learning) meets Akron partners.

Akron Public Schools Superintendent David James and Deputy Superintendent Ellen McWilliams-Woods, Ph.D., hosted community leaders this morning at the administration building. City and business leaders, non-profits and other organizations were represented and afforded a chance to meet with the team from Ford Next Generation Learning.

Ford NGL was created to mobilize educators, employers and community leaders to create a new generation of young people who will graduate from high school both college- and career-ready—an emerging workforce prepared to compete successfully.

Work is beginning with Ford NGL and Akron's "team" to create learning academies within Akron Public Schools. The model for this program originated in Nashville, Tennessee (website), and Akron plans to create academies to provide students with advanced skills for college, career and life.
