Greater Clark County Schools implements Ford Next Generation Learning

Greater Clark County Schools is implementing a new teaching model to better prepare students for college and careers.

Superintendent Andrew Melin announced the district's partnership with Ford Next Generation Learning.

It starts next school year with career academies for freshmen at Jeffersonville, New Washington and Charlestown high schools.

The program is designed to integrate core academic knowledge with real world skills.

“Getting kids more directly involved, more hands on researching, reading, writing, presenting, looking at real life problems that are out in the community -- I think that's very essential because it increase the relevancy to students,” Greater Clark County Schools Superintendent Dr. Andrew Melin said.

Greater Clark hopes to expand the model to 10th through 12th grades by the following school year.

Melin said Ford Next Generation Learning has been tremendously successful in Nashville and other communities.
