What It Is
The Pathways Accelerator is a structured, implementation-focused approach to building, revising, and strengthening career pathways, helping communities design and implement sustainable partnership systems that connect students to real-world, future-ready experiences. Grounded in the Community Connected® Approach, we work with communities at any stage, whether launching new pathways or improving existing ones—to ensure alignment with labor market demand and long-term impact.

Pathways and partnership systems are only effective if they translate into meaningful student experiences. Through the Pathways Accelerator, communities design and implement a continuum of real-world, future-ready experiences that connect learning to career pathways.
These experiences are:
- Intentional and aligned to pathway progression
- Connected to employers and community partners
- Accessible to all students—not limited to select programs
This includes a structured progression of opportunities such as:
- Career awareness and exploration
- Job shadows and project-based experiences
- Internships and apprenticeships
In addition, we support the development of:
- A clear process for students to explore and select pathways
- Alignment between experiences, coursework, and postsecondary options
- Consistent expectations for high-quality experiences
The result: students don’t just learn about careers, they actively experience and prepare for them.
Partnership Systems: The Engine Behind the Work
Most communities already have elements of pathways in place, but without a coordinated system, those efforts remain fragmented and difficult to scale. Effective pathways require more than strong program design—they require strong partnerships.
The Pathways Accelerator builds a local partnership system that connects:
- School districts
- Employers
- Intermediaries
This systemincludes:
- Clear roles and shared accountability
- A coordinating hub to manage relationships and student experiences
- Structured employer engagement processes
This is what allows pathways to function as a system, not just a collection of courses.
